Independence Day Function

A function was organized by the MJWS to celebrate the Independence Day on 24th August 2014. This event was combined with the 20th Annual Award Distribution Ceremony of the school. Event was arranged in Zawwaj Garden, Sakhi Hasan in North Nazimabad Town.

This function was sponsored by the House Building Finance Company Pakistan (HBFC) which is the largest financial institution in Pakistan facilitating general public in their housing needs. The most respected, Mr. Pervez Said, Managing Director of HBFC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among the other prominent personalities present on the occasion were Mr. Arshad Mehmood of MOVE Pakistan, Dr. Hamayun Ansari, Mr. Basit, close family members of the founder of MJWS. In audience, there were a large number of parents and the residents of the locality.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Pervez Said arrived at the venue and a contingent of the Junior Brigade presented him with Guard of Honor. He was also presented a bouquet by the junior class representatives.The formal opening of the event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a rendition of Naat. At the onset, M. Javaid Akhtar read out the message of the founder of MJWSS, Mrs. Bilgrami, as she could not make it to the event due to her health conditions. In the message, she thanked all those people who have contributed in the building of the school and taking it to the stage where it is today. After this, Mr. Arshad Mehmood presented his inaugural speech he welcomed and thanked the chief guest and all other guest who made it to the event despite their busyness.

After these opening speeches, the program commenced. Students of class X first presented a famous national song ‘Ham Zinda Qoum Hain’ (We Are A Live Nation) in a very emotional way. A speech on ‘The purpose of establishment of Pakistan’ was presented by Ms. Erum, a student of Class VII. After this, various tabloos were presented centered to the idea of ‘Hope’ and ‘Courage’. In current times of despair, it is very important that the candles of hope are lit so that students do not fall victim of this despair and frustration.

At the end of the performances, Mr. Pervez Said rendered his speech and congratulated the management of the school and the organizers for holding such a successful function. He praised performances of the participants and appreciated the level of efforts put in by all who were part of this event in any capacity. Mr. Arshad Mehmood announced a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- for the students who performed various activities.

In the second part of the event, certificates distribution and presentation of awards took place. Position holder students were presented with their earned certificates and awards. Beside this, students were also presented by nicely crafted shields on behalf of HBFC. Respectable guests presented these certificates and awards to the students. Five best performer teachers were also presented the Merit Certificates.
